India vs Sri Lanka Fourth ODI at Visakhapatnam

IND vs SL 4th ODI: India beat Sri Lanka by 7 wickets and won the series 2-1

Chasing a target of 260, India beat Sri Lanka by 7 wickets in the fourth and final ODI of the Hero Honda Cup in Vizag to win the series 2-1.
Indian skipper Rahul Dravid will be thrilled with the all-round performance that the team put in, with the bowlers dismantling the Sri Lankan top order and the batsmen scripting a responsible chase. While the Indian chase had an uneasy beginning with Sourav Ganguly retiring hurt in the first over, the blistering partnership between Robin Uthappa (52) and Virender Sehwag (46) ensured that the required rate was always under control.
Thereafter, despite a brief wobble as three wickets fell in quick succession, Ganguly (58 not out) and Yuvraj Singh (95 not out) shared a classy 145-run stand, which saw the two left-handers mix aggression with caution to ensure that India romped home with six overs to spare. Yuvraj Singh's elegant knock of 95 in 83 balls, in particular, was a sight for sore eyes as he creamed the Sri Lankan bowling for 11 boundaries and three sixes. As far as the bowlers are concerned, Zaheer Khan and Ajit Agarkar took two wickets each, while Sreesanth, Sehwag and Ganguly picked up one a piece. Sourav Ganguly was adjudged the Man of the Series for his all-round contribution, which included 168 runs in the three innings he played.

Reported Earlier: Chamara Silva's maiden international century helped Sri Lanka makde 259-7 in the fourth one-dayer against India. In a match reduced to 47 overs each by morning dew, the tourists were soon in trouble as they slumped to 56-4. But Silva lifted the total with an unbeaten and run-a-ball 107 to add 68 with Tillakaratne Dilshan (28) and 64 with Farveez Maharoof (28).

Reported Earlier: India have won the toss and elected to field in the fourth and final ODI against Sri Lanka at the ACA-VDCA Stadium in Vizag.
The start of the match has been delayed due to a wet outfield, and after inspecting the conditions, the umpires have decided that the match will start at 10.00 (IST). Indias injury woes continue in this series with Sachin Tendulkar and Munaf Patel both pulling out. However, Munafs injury has offered S Sreesanth another opportunity.

IND vs SL 4th ODI: Tendulkar to miss Vizag ODI

India's ace batsman Sachin Tendulkar was Thursday ruled out of the fourth and final limited-overs international against Sri Lanka after complaining of a stiff back.
Indian cricket board's secretary, Niranjan Shah said the team management has decided to rest Tendulkar from Saturday's match in the southern coastal city of Vishakhapatnam due to his stiff back. The indisposed Tendulkar is the latest in India's injury problems ahead of the World Cup, which begins in the West Indies on March 13.
Pace bowler Irfan Pathan has missed all previous matches against Sri Lanka due to a sore shoulder. Another pace bowler, Ajit Agarkar and middle-order batsman Yuvraj Singh have also struggled with their fitness. Agarkar was down with flu and Singh afflicted by back pain at the start of the series, but featured in Wednesday's one-dayer that India won by five wickets. Going into the last game of the four-match series India and Sri Lanka are tied 1-1. The series opener was disrupted by heavy showers and abandoned as a draw.
